Running your business
The challenges some would see in running a business from a remote location are a major attraction for others. Certainly, the opportunity to run a business on the edge of Exmoor National Park and by the sea is an enormous attraction for those who can adapt their business to such a setting in order to enjoy the lifestyle.
The local North Devon tourism industry is mainly seasonal, although some businesses operate all year and there is growing support for developing all-year-round operation. Niche markets such as stag/hen/wedding holidays offer opportunities and there is potential to be exploited.
Businesses that can operate independently of location, such as marketing, professional and other knowledge-based activities, can also work well. Broadband internet in the centre of the village enables businesses to communicate worldwide. There is business potential for entrepreneurs with vision, especially in retail, tourism and remote business services.
COMBEbusiness works to support all businesses in Combe Martin. We hold monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of the month in Combe Martin, Ilfracombe or Woolacombe.
Combe Martin Tourism Association exists to support businesses in the tourism sector.
